📈 How to Get Over the Fear of Sharing Online

How founders can start turning posts into opportunities.

You’ve got a ton of experience.

A great story.

Valuable insight.

So why aren’t you posting?

Most founders want to build their personal brand.

They know it’ll help them attract leads, open doors, and build trust.

But still they don’t post.

Because fear is running the show.

If that’s you, let’s talk about what’s really going on, and how to get past it.

1. “I Don’t Know What to Say”

You’re not actually lacking ideas.

You’re just overthinking them.

You want your first post (or next post) to be polished, profound, and perform well right out of the gate.

But content that converts doesn’t start as perfect. It starts as consistent.

  • Start by answering: “What do I wish my customers understood better?”

  • Share lessons from real conversations, wins, or mistakes.

  • Post messy. You’ll refine your voice as you go.

And if you need some inspiration to keep going, check out The Hidden Power of Consistency.

2. Fear of Judgment Is Normal. But It’s Not a Good Reason to Stay Silent

Let’s be real:

You’re afraid of what someone might think.

  • “What if this flops?”

  • “What if it sounds cringe?”

  • “What if someone from high school sees it?”

The right people aren’t judging you.

They’re watching, learning, and gaining trust in your expertise.

And the ones who do judge? They weren’t buying from you anyway.

  • Picture your ideal client when you post, not your old coworkers.

  • Focus on who you’re helping, not who might roll their eyes.

  • Remember: You’re doing this for your business, not their approval.

3. “It’s Not Working” After 5 Posts Is Like Quitting the Gym After One Workout

Founders quit on content way too early.

They post five times, get low engagement, and think, “This doesn’t work.”

But brand-building is a long game. It works when you do.

I started posting on X in 2023. It took about 15 months to gain 10K followers.

I got frustrated several times, but I kept posting.

The content you’re posting today is planting seeds.

It’s warming up leads.

It’s building a digital reputation that eventually becomes real-world leverage.

  • Commit to 90 days before you even look at analytics.

  • Track the right metrics (DMs, replies, connections, not just likes).

  • Stay in the game. You’re closer than you think.

4. Take Action and Quit Thinking So Much

The only way to get better at posting is to, well, post.

You don’t find your voice by waiting for inspiration. You find it by using it.

And the good news is:

You only need a few types of content to get started:

  • Authority posts (teach what you know)

  • Story posts (share what you’ve learned)

  • Offer posts (tell people how you help)

  • Pick one format. One idea. One platform.

  • Post 3x a week, no matter what.

  • Watch how fast you find your rhythm.

And if this seems overwhelming, FounderBrands can help take it all off of your plate.

The Takeaway

You don’t need a massive following to have success.

You need a clear voice, a real message, and the courage to show up.

So if you’ve been watching others post and thinking, “I should do that too
”

Hit publish. Share your experience. Tell your story.
